how to make sounds that stack

recipe for a loop:

  1. set your metronome to 110 bpm, 4/4 time
  2. hit record and start playing right on beat 1 — no silence at the front
  3. record for a whole number of measures:
2 measures = 8 beats = 4.36s
4 measures = 16 beats = 8.73s
8 measures = 32 beats = 17.45s (the length of the original loops)
  1. stop right on the downbeat after your last measure — a touch long is fine, anything within 3% gets trimmed onto the grid automatically
  2. save as mp3, m4a or wav (under 4MB) and upload

the key: the band plays in G major — stick to the notes G A B C D E F♯. easiest way to stay in key and in time: let the circus play while you record, and jam along by ear.

plays once characters (claps, words, honks) can be any length and any key you like.
